Families check in at the children's room and kids wait their turn in check-in order, each getting up to 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time with Rose, a gentle therapy dog. The mood is quiet and encouraging — the dog never corrects or judges, which makes it a comfortable way for early or reluctant readers to practice aloud. Parents stay nearby, and the hour moves at a relaxed pace as a handful of children cycle through their turns.
