Children ages 5 and up can register for a 10-minute slot to read aloud to Coco, a trained PAWS for People therapy dog, at Media Library.
Attendees check in at the children's room and wait their turn in check-in order, with each child getting up to 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time with a gentle therapy dog. The atmosphere is quiet and encouraging, with no correction or judgment, so reluctant or anxious readers can practice aloud at their own pace. Parents can stay nearby, and the session runs about an hour as several children cycle through.
