A registration-required library session where children ages 5 and up take turns reading aloud for up to 10 minutes to Coco, a trained PAWS for People therapy dog.
Kids check in at the children's room and then wait their turn in check-in order, each getting up to 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time with a gentle, specially trained therapy dog. The mood is quiet and unhurried — the dog simply listens, with no correction or judgment — which tends to put anxious or reluctant readers at ease. Parents can stay nearby, and the hour-long session cycles several children through while the dog's handler keeps things calm and friendly.
