Four Lean Hounds
Shere-E-Punjab · Media, PA

Four Lean Hounds is a Philadelphia-based Grateful Dead tribute that moves between acoustic bluegrass/folk arrangements and electric, improvisation-driven jamming, built on covers rather than originals.
Sets move from intimate acoustic takes on the American Beauty/Workingman's Dead-era songbook — bluegrass, folk, and cowboy tunes stacked with three-part harmonies — into electric stretches powered by a thumping rhythm section and skillful improvisation. With playful transitions and even covers of songs the Dead themselves covered, their shows dissolve into full-blown jubilees.
