Charlie And The Chocolate Factory
The Media Theatre · Media, PA
A family-friendly stage musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, following Charlie Bucket and four other golden-ticket winners through Willy Wonka's fantastical factory, with songs by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman plus classics from the 1971 film.
Expect a full-scale musical production in a historic 440-seat borough theater, with a crowd heavy on families and kids on holiday break. The show leans on spectacle — Wonka's factory, the Oompa-Loompas, and familiar songs — so it plays as a bright, crowd-pleasing outing rather than a dark or experimental take on the story. Arrive early for a downtown Media dinner beforehand, and note the venue has advertised a Wonka-bar giveaway with golden tickets for early attendees at some performances.
