Charlie And The Chocolate Factory
The Media Theatre · Media, PA
A family-friendly stage musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, following Charlie Bucket and four other golden-ticket winners through Willy Wonka's fantastical factory, performed as a 3:00 PM matinee at The Media Theatre.
Expect a colorful, kid-oriented afternoon of musical theater in a historic 440-seat borough playhouse, with a matinee crowd of families, grandparents and school-age children. The show leans on spectacle — Wonka's factory sets, Oompa-Loompa numbers and songs drawn from the 1971 film — so the mood is playful and a bit loud rather than subtle or dark. Arrive early for the downtown Media location, and expect a relaxed, community-theater atmosphere rather than a big-city Broadway polish.
