Charlie And The Chocolate Factory
The Media Theatre · Media, PA
A family-friendly stage musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, following Charlie Bucket and four other golden-ticket winners through Willy Wonka's fantastical factory.
Expect a colorful, song-filled staging of the Roald Dahl story, with the Shaiman/Wittman score and familiar Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley numbers carrying the audience from the Bucket family's cramped home into Wonka's candy-colored factory. The 10:00 AM start time points to a morning performance, so the room will likely skew toward school groups, parents with kids, and grandparents, with a lively, talkative energy rather than a hushed evening-crowd atmosphere. A reported opening promotion handed out Wonka bars to early attendees, with a few containing golden tickets for a local tour, so there may be giveaway-style extras around the run.
