Charlie And The Chocolate Factory
The Media Theatre · Media, PA
A family-friendly staging of the Roald Dahl musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, following golden-ticket winners through Willy Wonka's fantastical factory, at The Media Theatre.
Expect a full-scale musical production in a historic 440-seat borough theater, with colorful sets, candy-colored costumes, and a score drawn from the Broadway show and the 1971 film. The crowd skews toward families and grandparents with kids in tow, so the room tends to be lively and reactive — lots of laughing at the Oompa-Loompas and the bratty golden-ticket kids. It's a straightforward, sit-back holiday-season outing: arrive early for the State Street shops and restaurants, and expect a two-act evening that lets out around 9:30 PM.
