Charlie And The Chocolate Factory
The Media Theatre · Media, PA
A family-friendly stage musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, following Charlie Bucket and four other golden-ticket winners through Willy Wonka's fantastical factory.
Expect a full-scale musical production in a historic 440-seat theater, with colorful sets, songs from the Broadway version, and a parade of larger-than-life characters like Willy Wonka, Violet Beauregarde, and Augustus Gloop. A 2:00 PM matinee draws a mixed crowd of families with kids, grandparents, and theater regulars, so the atmosphere is relaxed and audience reactions are part of the fun. The story's candy-colored spectacle and moral arc make it an easy, crowd-pleasing outing rather than a challenging night of theater.
