Charlie And The Chocolate Factory
The Media Theatre · Media, PA
A family-friendly staging of the Roald Dahl musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, following golden-ticket winners through Willy Wonka's factory, at The Media Theatre in Media, PA.
Audiences settle into a 440-seat historic 1927 theater for a full staged musical with Broadway-style songs by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman plus the familiar Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley numbers from the 1971 film. Expect a kid-friendly spectacle built around Wonka's factory — colorful sets, inventive staging, and a cast of larger-than-life characters like Violet Beauregarde and Veruca Salt — with a runtime and tone pitched at families. It's an easy, festive evening out during the holiday season, so expect a mixed crowd of parents with children, grandparents, and local theater regulars rather than a late-night bar scene.
