Charlie And The Chocolate Factory
The Media Theatre · Media, PA
A family-friendly matinee performance of the Roald Dahl musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, staged at Media's historic downtown theater as part of its holiday-season run.
Expect a lively, kid-heavy matinee crowd filing into a 440-seat 1927 theater on State Street, with grandparents, parents, and children all in the room for a story most of them already know by heart. The show leans on spectacle — Wonka's factory, the golden-ticket reveal, the Oompa-Loompas — plus Marc Shaiman's score and the familiar songs from the 1971 film, so it plays as much to the youngest seats as to the adults. A 2 p.m. curtain on New Year's Eve makes it an easy daytime outing that wraps before evening celebrations begin.
The Media TheatreA historic 440-seat theater on State Street, the Media Theatre opened in 1927 as a vaudeville house and cinema and still retains its English Renaissance decor. The intimate setting and strong acoustics make it a beloved spot for live musicals, plays, and concerts in the heart of downtown Media.
